March is one of the best months to visit Phu Quoc. It has the most sunshine of the year, the sea on the west coast is calm and clear, rain is rare, and with Tet and the New Year behind it, the big domestic holiday rushes are over. It is also getting hotter: by the end of the month the afternoons are over 32 °C. If you want dry-season weather away from the holiday peaks, March is a strong choice.

What March 2026 was like. According to the An Giang weather station, Phu Quoc averaged 28.0 °C in March 2026, with a high of 33.2 °C on the 29th. The province had two short spells of unseasonal rain, on 1–6 and 11–13 March, but the island stayed very dry overall: from 1 February to mid-April it recorded only 59.6 mm of rain, far less than the year before. Expect hot, bright days and the occasional shower.

The sea

The north-east monsoon is fading, and the west coast — Long Beach, Ong Lang, Bai Dai — is calm. It is one of the best months for snorkelling, scuba diving and island-hopping tours around the An Thoi islands. The jellyfish season named by the marine protected area starts in April, so March is just before it.

Crowds and prices

The first quarter is high season for international visitors: Phu Quoc airport handled more than 2.2 million passengers in the first quarter of 2026, more than double a year earlier, with South Korea the largest international market (VnExpress, April 2026).

March is when that peak starts to ease:

What to do in March

Health

The sun is at its strongest of the dry season: sunscreen, a hat, shade in the middle of the day and plenty of water. Dengue is a year-round risk in the region — see hospitals and medical care.

For the months around it, see Phu Quoc in February, Phu Quoc in April and the month-by-month weather guide.
