Mui Ong Doi (Mũi Ông Đội) is the forested headland at the southern tip of Phu Quoc, east of An Thoi, pointing towards Hon Thom and the An Thoi islands. Because it reaches out into the sea with water on both sides, it is one of the few places on the island where you can watch both the sunrise and the sunset.
For most visitors, Mui Ong Doi now means one thing: Premier Village Phu Quoc, the Sun Group resort managed by Accor that opened on the headland in April 2018. Its villas spread across the slopes and the two beaches either side of the cape, some of them on the rocks above the water (4.8 on Google Maps from 7,613 reviews, October 2026). Reviewers describe clear, calm water, the forest that still covers much of the headland, and monkeys living wild around the villas.
Can you visit if you are not staying?
The headland is essentially the resort’s grounds, and visitors who rode in on their own in 2019–2020 were turned back. In 2025 one reviewer reported buying a pass that gave access to the resort’s beach and pools, with food at the beach restaurant included; ask the resort about day passes or book a meal at one of its restaurants. Otherwise, the best way to see the cape is from the sea, on a boat trip to the islands.
Staying at Premier Village
Premier Village is one of the island’s top-end resorts, with large pool villas — one reviewer in 2026 quoted 15 to 30 million dong a night per villa — and is popular with families for its calm beaches. It is about 30 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes by car from Sunset Town. Compare it with the other resorts in our luxury resorts guide. Do not confuse it with Premier Residences Phu Quoc Emerald Bay, a separate resort on Khem Beach.
