PHU QUOC Cable Car

Inside Phu Quoc Cable Car

The longest and continuous three cable aerial car system in the world can be found here in Phu Quoc, a 28 island district in Vietnam and Asia’s next top SmartCity. The Phu Quoc Cable Car connects An Thoi Town, the districts second largest town, with Hon Thom Island, the districts second largest island.

Cáp Treo Hòn Thơm – Phú Quốc Cable Car

The Phu Quoc Cable Car (Vietnamese: Cáp Treo Hòn Thơm Phú Quốc) is an oversea cable-way system located in Phú Quốc District, Kiên Giang Province, Vietnam. The cable car system only has two stations located on two different islands.

The start station is located on Phu Quoc Island, just south of the popular beach resort area of Bai Truong. After a 15-minute journey at speeds of up to 30.6 kilometers per hour, passengers arrive at the final station — Hon Thom Island, which is Phu Quoc’s second largest island and often referred to as “Pineapple Island”.

The purpose of the Phu Quoc Cable Car is to take tourists from Phu Quoc Island, the region’s main tourism hub, to Hon Thom Nature Park, which is the 3rd amusement park to open in Phu Quoc since 2016, but one that focuses on eco-tourism related activities. The other amusement parks found in Phu Quoc are VP Land and VP Safari, both of which are located in Ganh Dau Commune on Phu Quoc Island – the largest island in the district.

Inside Phu Quoc Cable Car

During its journey, the Hon Thom – An Thoi Cable Car passes over Hòn Rỏi and Hòn Dừa, two islands that are part of the An Thoi Archipelago, which is famous for its greenish-blue seas, tiny islands surrounded by coral reefs, and the best snorkeling in Phu Quoc. Passengers who travel on the cable car during high-noon can view the stunning coral reef topography being exposed below by the sunlight and calm transparent seas.

The architecture of the stations is just as remarkable as the cable car system as it is designed in a “east meets west” fusion style. The station located on Phu Quoc Island resembles ancient Rome’s coliseum.
