Hon Vong (Hòn Vông) is a small island in the An Thoi archipelago off the southern tip of Phu Quoc, about a kilometre north-east of Hon May Rut on Google Maps. Some Vietnamese sources treat it as the same island as May Rut Trong; others list them separately — so if a particular island matters to you, ask your tour operator exactly where you will stop.
What everyone agrees on is the beach: fine white sand, palm trees and clear turquoise water, among the prettiest in the archipelago. It scores 4.4 on Google Maps from 375 reviews (October 2026).
What to expect
Hon Vong is run as a private beach, and recent reviewers describe it more as a beach club than a wild island:
- Everything is paid: sun loungers, drinks and food, and showers. Bring small notes.
- No outside food or drink: a visitor in March 2026 was asked to throw away the water and snacks they had brought, and had to buy drinks on the island at a mark-up. Drink before you land, or leave your supplies on the boat.
- Better facilities than the wilder islands — reviewers mention cleaner toilets, showers and a bar.
- Water sports: jet skis and parasailing are on offer; one reviewer decided against parasailing when they saw it was towed by a jet ski rather than a boat. See water sports for prices and safety tips.
- Crowds: it is a stop on many island-hopping and snorkelling tours, and at midday the beach and the jetty get busy with boats.

Getting there
There is no public ferry. Hon Vong is reached on island-hopping or snorkelling tours from An Thoi, or by private boat from An Thoi port — about 20 minutes by speedboat. Choose an established operator, wear the life jacket for the whole crossing and do not go out in rough weather; see safety on the water. The sea is calmest from November to April.
