Eat The Island
Be sure to try some of the amazing street food on offer. One has a dizzying choice of small, quaint little eateries serving traditional soup, sugar can juice, and of course, banh mi (baguette filled with meats and salad). Banh mi opla (fried egg in baguette) is a particular favorite among the budget conscious travelers to the island as it only costs 10,000VND per sandwich, or $0.50USD. Most of these small eateries can be found throughout the island, especially in Duong Dong Town and An Thoi Town.
Authentic Vietnamese street food venues are mobile “pop-up” style restaurants that do not have a fixed address as they do not lease the land that they are using to sell food. They normally sell BBQ or fried snacks like BBQ pork wrapped around lemongrass sticks or egg and baguette sandwiches. The prices for these items are usually well under 30,000VND or $1.50USD per order. Phu Quoc has a lot of street food vendors and they are found in all corners of the island.
